History The Sharbatly family is one of Saudi Arabia’s oldest and the most famous families in trade & business. The family, based in Jeddah, has been an integral partner in the development and modernizations of the country. The late Sheikh Hassan Abbas Sharbatly, the family business founder, played a pivotal role since the early economic development of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the pre-oil era. Further, he made vast charitable contributions in support of education & culture, social development and in alleviating poverty. This role led His Majesty the late King Abdulaziz Al Saud, the founder of the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to bestow upon Sheikh Hassan Sharbatly in 1934 the title of “His Excellency” as well as the title of Minister of State without Portfolio. Such status was the first of its kind in the Kingdom. Sheikh Hassan was also a founder of many leading institutions like Riyad Bank and Saudi Arabian Refineries Company (SARCO). Present Sharbatly family, today, consolidates their investments under the umbrella of AlNahla Group. AlNahla established its headquarter in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and has substantial investments in Egypt, the Gulf, in addition to SAMACO and Fast Autotechnic, the exclusive dealers for Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Ferrari and Maserati in Saudi Arabia. SAMACO Marine Division is the exclusive dealer for Hatteras Yachts, Sea Ray, Luhrs, Baja International, and Boston Whaler in the Kingdom, all of which are branches of AlNahla Group. AlNahla has three core areas of business: real estate, financial services, and the aforementioned trading businesses. More recently, AlNahla entered into the telecommunications and private equity businesses. As such, AlNahla maintains very strong and strategic relations with Abraaj Capital, Global Investment House, Investcorp and Evolvence Capital. AlNahla is a strategic shareholder in a number of companies such as Riyad Bank, Saudi Arabian Refineries Company (SARCO), Jeddah Holding Company, Ettihad Atheeb Telecommunication Co and Smile Telecommunications .
